Martin Luther King Jr. led the civil rights movements in the US. The United States Civil Rights Movement (1954–68) was a series of events and reform initiatives aimed at eradicating legal racial discrimination against African Americans. Martin Luther King Jr. spearheaded this nonviolent civil disobedience movement to oppose racially inequitable laws and practices. Martin Luther King Jr. was a well-known civil rights activist who led the American civil rights struggle for blacks and African Americans who did not have the same rights as Americans. Martin Luther King led all of the major campaigns, including civil disobedience, peaceful protests, and sit-ins. He performed this till his death in 1968.
