Detailed Solution

Nana Saheb led the Revolt of 1857 in Kanpur.
The late Peshwa Baji Rao's adopted son, Nana Saheb, who resided close to Kanpur, collected a force and expelled the British garrison from the city. It started as a sepoy mutiny, and many others from different parts joined it. It was a reaction because of many accumulated reasons. The Indians were frustrated with the various policies and decisions of the British. But, the main issue was regarding the fat of cows and pigs in the cartridge used in the new arms. It hurt the religious sentiments of both Hindus and Muslims among the sepoys. So, they refused to use it, gradually resulting in a revolt in 1857.
