Detailed Solution

Rokeya Sakhwat Hossain opened a school for girls in Kolkata in 1910, which is still working.
Rokeya Sakhwat Hossain was a social activist, feminist thinker, and writer in British India. Her vision of the emancipation of women was embodied in her literary work ‘Ladyland’. In this story, Rokeya dreams of a land where women fly in air cars and invent things. Women could study and have control over their lives. Rokeya herself was denied an English education because society feared that it would give modern ideas to women and threaten traditional values. So she set up a school for girls, primarily Muslim women, in Bhagalpur in 1909. It was shifted to Kolkata in 1910 and it continues to function.
