The expansion of the Chahamanas was opposed by the Chalukyas of Gujarat and the Gahadavalas of western Uttar Pradesh. Chauhan was another name for Chahamanas. They ruled over the Delhi and Ajmer regions. They aspired to expand their dominion in the west and east, which the Chalukyas and the Gahadavalas opposed. The Chahamanas were the rulers of Rajasthan and its surrounding areas from the 7th to the 12th centuries. After some time, they relocated their capital from Sambhar to Ajmer.
