National Nutrition Week in India is organized by the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD), Government of India.

The initiative was first launched in 1982 with the objective of creating awareness among people about the importance of nutrition and healthy eating practices. Since then, the MWCD, in collaboration with various organizations such as the Food and Nutrition Board, healthcare institutions, and state governments, has been spearheading the observance every year from 1st to 7th September.

The campaign aims to:

Promote public health awareness about balanced diets and the role of nutrition in preventing lifestyle diseases.
Encourage behavioral change by educating communities, especially women and children, about food diversity, safe food practices, and sustainable diets.
