Detailed Solution

The upper class owns the majority of land in the village.
Palampur has a population of about 450 families of various castes, with about 80 upper-class families owning most of the land. The situation is such that the rest of the population lives in mud and straw houses. Farming is the main economic activity of the village of Palampur. About 75 per cent of the population is farming for their livelihood. However, there are significant problems that affect agriculture here. One of them is that the land under cultivation is fixed. Since 1960, the land area under cultivation in the village of Palampur has not changed, positively or negatively. But the land is used very productively in the town. The farmers grow a variety of crops throughout the season. Therefore, the land is not left idle.
