Dr Ansar presided over the 1927 congressional session. The Indian National Congress chose to boycott the Simon Commission "at every level and in every shape" at its Madras Session in 1927, which was presided over by Dr Ansari.
Muslim League and Hindu Mahasabha decided to back the Congress's choice. No members of the Simon panel were Indian, which is why there was such an intense backlash against it. However, the Simon Commission did bring together various organisations and political parties in the nation, if only temporarily. Additionally, youthful politicians like Jawahar Lal Nehru had devised a resolution calling for total independence, which was ultimately defeated. Gandhi did not support Jawahar Lal's initiative.
