Detailed Solution

King Anangabhima III proclaimed himself as the deputy of God.
A temple for Purushottama Jagannatha was going to be built in Puri when Anantavarman, one of the most significant Ganga dynasty kings, decided in the twelfth century. Then, in 1230, monarch Anangabhima III declared himself to be God's "deputy" and consecrated his entire realm to him. The temple's influence on social and political issues grew along with its importance as a pilgrimage site. The English East India Company, the Marathas, the Mughals, and anybody else who conquered Orissa made an effort to take possession of the temple. They believed that by doing this, the local population would accept their rule.
