Newcomen produced the steam engine. New technological changes were introduced between the first and second phases of the Industrial Revolution. First, Newcomen created the new steam engine and later revamped it by James Mill. Next, Newcomen approached the manufacturing of steam engines by the industrialist Mathew Boulton. However, the newly introduced technology was not accepted by merchants and industrialists. Only later in the second phase, the industrialists took the steam engine, which enhanced the productivity of the employees of the cotton industry.
