Detailed Solution

Paul Ehrlich proposed Rivet Popper Hypothesis which gives an analogy between an aeroplane and an ecosystem. Loss of species one by one is detrimental to an ecosystem like popping of rivets one by one making the aeroplane dangerously weak over a period of time. Likewise, the loss of key species is a more serious threat to the ecosystem just like the loss of a few rivets on the windows or wings causing, a serious threat to the flight safety.

Alexander Von Humboldt explained Species-Area relationship.

David Tilman conducted plot experiments to explain the importance of biodiversity.

Edward Wilson is a Sociobiologist who popularised the term biodiversity.
