Who proposed ‘Rivet Popper Hypothesis’ related to biodiversity and ecosystems?

Paul Ehrlich proposed Rivet Popper Hypothesis which gives an analogy between an aeroplane and an ecosystem. Loss of species one by one is detrimental to an ecosystem like popping of rivets one by one making the aeroplane dangerously weak over a period of time. Likewise, the loss of key species is a more serious threat to the ecosystem just like the loss of a few rivets on the windows or wings causing, a serious threat to the flight safety.
