Sutton and Boveri proposed the chromosomal theory of inheritance. In 1902, the chromosomal movement during meiosis was worked out. Walter Sutton and Theodore Boveri stated that pairing and separation of a pair of chromosomes would lead to the segregation of a pair of factors they carried. They united knowledge of chromosomal segregation with Mendelian principles and called it chromosomal theory of inheritance.
