Jawaharlal Nehru proposed the objective resolution.
On December 13, 1946, Jawaharlal Nehru moved the assembly's historic Objectives Resolution. It laid down the philosophy of the constitutional structure. The assembly unanimously adopted this resolution on January 22, 1947. It influenced the initial shaping of the constitution through all its subsequent stages. The first Indian President, Dr Rajendra Prasad, was also an Indian Independence activist. He was in office as President from 1950 to 1962.
