Detailed Solution

The Temple entry movement was started by BR Ambedkar. Ambedkar belonged to a Mahar family. Mahar was considered a lower caste. In his childhood, he experienced a lot of discrimination in school. he was not allowed to sit inside the classroom and was forced to sit outside on the ground. He was also not allowed to take water from taps which are used by the upper caste. After the completion of school, he got a fellowship to go to the US. When he returned to India in 1919  he wrote about the extensive upper caste domination in Indian society. And then he started a temple entry movement,  In 1927. This movement was followed by the Mahar caste people. Between 1927 and 1935, Ambedkar led three movements for temple entry.
