●        Gandhiji started the Dandi movement from Dandi on 12th March 1930.
●        Gandhi walked about 200 miles from Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi, a coastal village in Gujarat, with 78 of his chosen followers.
●        Going to Dandi, Gandhiji and his followers made salt by violating the salt law.
●        The move was made in response to the imposition of a tax on salt production by the British, who considered seawater recovery activities illegal and frequently used force to stop them.
