Detailed Solution

The working families and poor people suffered the most in the Bhopal gas tragedy. On midnight of 2 December 1984, a highly poisonous gas, namely methyl isocyanate (MIC), was leaked from the pesticide plant set up by a US-based company Union Carbide (UC), in the state of Bhopal. This poisonous gas killed almost 8000 people and affected lakhs severely. It made the people breathless, and they died helplessly. Most of the people who suffered in this tragedy included middle-class workers and the poor living near the plant and the adjoining areas.
