Detailed Solution

Alivardi Khan was Nawab of Bengal during 1740-1756. In the reign of Shuja ud din's son Sarfaraz khan, Alivardi Khan was Deputy Governor of Bihar in 1740. Alivardi Khan murdered Sarfaraz. Alivardi legalised his usurpation by receiving a Farman from Muhammad Shah after paying him 2 crores. He prevented the English and the French from fortifying their factories at Calcutta and Chandranagore. Alivardi was succeeded by his grandson Sirajuddaula in 1756.
