Detailed Solution

Amir Khusrau was a fourteenth-century poet.
Amir Khusrau observed in 1318 that there was a distinct language spoken in each region of this country: Sindhi, Lahori, Kashmiri, Dvarsamudri (in southern Karnataka), Telangani (in Andhra Pradesh), Gujari (in Gujarat), Gauri (in Bengal), Awadhi (in eastern Uttar Pradesh), and Hindawi (in the area around Delhi). Amir Khusrau proceeded by pointing out that Sanskrit was distinct from these languages in that it was universal. It was an ancient language that only the Brahmanas knew, and common people did not.
