Detailed Solution

Middle class was Bourgeoisie.
European society prior to modern times was divided into three sections: Clergy, Nobility (aristocracy), and third class which consisted of artists, peasants, workers, traders, etc. However, during the mercantile stage, a distinct class emerged in the society of Europe. This class is known as the bourgeoisie. The bourgeoisie was the middle class who rose in economic power but belonged to the third section. They were mainly involved in trading activities overseas that earned them huge profits. They wanted equal rights as those of the aristocracy. To represent themselves as of the superior class, they preferred handmade products over machine-made, like aristocracy.
