Saadat Khan was given the title of 'Burhan-ul-Mulk'. He eventually divided the Mughal Empire into the independent state of Awadh. He tried to weaken the influence of the Mughals in Awadh by reducing the number of office holders (jagirdars) appointed by them. As a result, the Jagirs grew smaller, and he selected his faithful proxies to serve as jagirdars and checked their accounts frequently. The Nawab's court-appointed individuals to review all state revenues, the Rajput zamindars estates and the Afghans' agriculturally fertile land.
