Detailed Solution

Cavour was called the 'Bismarck of Italy'. He was a Piedmontese statesman and conservative who used international rivalry and revolutionary movements to bring Italy together under the House of Savoy in 1861, with himself as the new kingdom's first Prime Minister. He served as Sardinia Piedmont's Chief Minister. As a result of his efforts to unite Italy's various religions, he was known as the "Bismarck of Italy." Cavour wholeheartedly supported the notion of church-state separation.
