Detailed Solution

The "Bismarck of Italy" was Cavour.
Count Camillo de Cavour, the Chief Minister of the State of Sardinia-Piedmont, led the initiative to unite the Italian territories. He did not identify as a democratic or revolutionary. Like many other wealthy and intelligent members of the Italian elite, he understood French considerably better than he knew Italian. Cavour was the leading figure in the Italian unification movement and the founder of a liberal party. After Italy's unification, he was elected prime minister, but he passed away after only three years in office. By carefully forming a diplomatic alliance with France, he helped Sardinia-Piedmont defeat Austrian armies in 1859, freeing the Austrian Habsburgs from the northern half of their empire.
