Detailed Solution

An outstanding grammarian in ancient India was Panini. He wrote the Ashtadhyayi (or Eight Chapters) between the sixth and seventh centuries BCE. His contribution was a complex grammar of the Sanskrit language. By placing the vowels and consonants in a particular order, he produced over 3000 formulas. The formulas he developed are still in use. A Sanskrit grammarian named Panini developed a thorough and rational theory of phonetics, phonology, and morphology. Panini's most notable work is a treatise called Astadhyayi (or Astaka). It has eight chapters, each broken into three-quarter chapters.
