Detailed Solution

Mahatma Gandhi was the editor of the Navjivan Weekly. Gandhi bought out the Navjivan weekly on September 7, 1919. Gandhi's critical writings, however, posed a challenge to the British authorities. Navjivan felt the need to purchase its own printing press since no owner of a printing press was ready to put their company at danger by publishing reports critical of the government. Gandhi considered poor printing to be his own sin (violence). He insisted on legible print, strong paper, and tidy, uncomplicated jackets. The Navjivan Press produced a large number of inexpensive books throughout his lifetime. His Gujarati autobiography cost 12 annas. This book was also published in Devanagari at a low cost.
