Qutbuddin Aibek established the Delhi Sultanate.
Being a slave, the dynasty Qutbuddin Aibek established became known as the Mamluk or the Slave dynasty. He was known for constructing mosques in Delhi and other cities. However, he was best known for laying the Qutb Minar's foundation in Delhi. It was given its name in honour of the Sufi saint, Khwaja Qutb-ud-din Bakhtiyar Kaki. Moreover, Iltutmish, Aibak's son-in-law and successor finished the Qutb Minar's construction.
