Who was the founder of the Mauryan Dynasty?

The Mauryan Dynasty was founded by Chandragupta Maurya around 322 BCE. Guided by his mentor and strategist Chanakya (Kautilya), he overthrew the Nanda rulers of Magadha and established a powerful centralized empire. His reign marked the first time most of the Indian subcontinent was united under a single administration. Chandragupta built a strong army, established an efficient bureaucracy, and developed trade and infrastructure. His capital, Pataliputra, became a center of governance and culture. Later, he abdicated the throne and adopted Jainism. His legacy laid the foundation for one of India’s greatest dynasties.
