Detailed Solution

On the 13th of April, 1919, General Dyer was ordered to shoot at Amritsar's Jalliawala Bagh. It culminated in a tragic human calamity that killed at least a thousand Indian citizens. It was a completely contained space with tall walls on all sides. A large crowd had gathered there, some opposing the government's Rowlatt Act and others celebrating the Punjabi holiday of Baisakhi. In response, British General Dyer ordered his forces to block the escape and open fire on the unarmed crowd without warning.
