The Journeys of Marco Polo, a book that explained to Europeans the then-mysterious culture and inner workings of the Eastern world, include a description of his travels. After spending several years exploring China, the renowned explorer Marco Polo eventually returned to Italy in 1295. All of this information was carried back by Marco Polo. As a result, Italians started printing books using woodblocks, and the technology quickly spread.
