Detailed Solution

Bahadur Shah Zafar was India's final Mughal emperor.
He was the son of Mughal Emperor Akbar Shah II and Lal Bai. His father did not initially favour him as his successor. When he was crowned king, he was 62 years old. Shah was simply a nominal monarch at the time because the once-powerful Mughal Empire had already withered and fallen apart. Only Delhi was under the control of the Mughal Emperor. Bahadur Shah Zafar was made the leader of the Revolt of 1857 by the rebel forces, which he unwillingly accepted.
