The tribals in Andhra Pradesh's Gundam Hills protested the British for closing off large tracts of forest to prevent people from going there to graze livestock and get forest products. The tribals are closely associated with the forests, and the rule debarring them from enjoying their traditional rights affected them. The government also forced them to do begar work without any wages. Thus, they revolted against the government following their guerrilla tactics.
