Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru was the real architect of the concept of Panchsheel. Nehru laid out the principles of Panchsheel in the year 1954. This was the prime principle of peaceful co-existence. The efforts for peace reached a peak in India with the introduction of the principles of Panchsheel in 1954. The concept also played a primal role in Sino-India relations. The five main principles which are embodied as a part of Panchsheel as a whole are, first, peaceful co-existence; second, mutual respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty; third, mutual non-aggression; fourth, mutual non-interference in each other’s internal affairs; and lastly, equality and mutual benefit.
