Detailed Solution

Bairam Khan was the regent of Akbar.
Akbar, Humayun's oldest child, succeeded to the throne as Jalaluddin Muhammad Akbar Badshah Ghazi. After Humayun died in 1556, his 13-year-old son Akbar was given control of the empire.
At his 1556 coronation in Kalanaur, Punjab, he was proclaimed the shahenshah. Bairam Khan, Humayun's dependable and beloved friend, was the Mughal emperor's tutor and regent from 1556 to 1560. Khan-i-Khanan was his new title as a "wakil" of the kingdom.
For the first four years of his leadership, Akbar was one of the most skilful soldiers of his day and the legitimate heir to the Mughal dynasty. One of the notable accomplishments during Bairam Khan's rule during Akbar's regency was the defeat of Hemu. At the second battle of Panipat (1556), he led the Mughal armies to victory over Hemu, the wazir of the Sur dynasty, and the allied Afghan army. At 18, Akbar decided to relieve Bairam Khan of his duties as minister and regent in 1540 so that he might assume the true power of the kingdom in his hands. Following this, Bairam Khan wholeheartedly departed for Mecca and was killed en route.
