Detailed Solution

Birjis Qadr was the son of the deposed Nawab Wajid Ali Shah of Awadh. Qadr's mother appointed him the state's monarch in 1857 after the Sepoy Mutiny broke out, and she took on the role of his regent. He organized mushairas and became a poet in Kathmandu. The British army encountered fierce resistance from them, but after seizing Lucknow the following year, they escaped to Kathmandu in Nepal.
