Detailed Solution

Sellers of cheap books were called ‘chapmen’.
In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, a new form of literature printed in little books was introduced that targeted a new audience. Pedlars carried them in the form of little books sold in villages available for all classes of people. These new forms of literature also included the almanac, ritual calendars, ballads and folk tales. In Europe, the peddlers who carried penny chapbooks were known as chapmen. They were low-priced and poor-quality paper books. These chapbooks were mainly introduced to children, women and the working class.
