Detailed Solution

Dalits were organised into the Depressed Classes Association.
Dalits did not find equality in the sociopolitical arena of early twentieth-century India. Although a few leaders, such as Gandhiji, worked for Dalits, it was not fruitful. As a result, the Dalit leaders organised themselves to advance. BR Ambedkar founded the Depressed Class Association, which included Dalits. In the second round table conference, it wanted a separate electorate. This caused a schism between Ambedkar and Gandhiji. Gandhiji did not want Dalits to have separate electorates and hence went on a death fast. Finally, the matter was settled by the Poona Pact, which granted Dalits reserved seats in the general electorate.
