Detailed Solution

Iqtadars were the governors during the Delhi Sultanate.
The Arabic word 'iqta' refers to a regional administrative unit. Hence, it is often compared to a province. The Delhi Sultans initially divided their empire into many 'Iqtas' or provinces and placed them under the control of officials known as 'Iqtadars' or governors. The function of these iqtadars included maintaining an army, appointing soldiers for their army, collecting revenue from the territory assigned to them, and sending yearly reports of expenditures and their income to the centre.
