Detailed Solution

Chanakya wrote Arthashastra. Chanakya, also known as Kautilya, served as king Chandragupta Maurya's prime minister. Chanakya was the architect behind the foundation of the Mauryan empire, notwithstanding Chandragupta Maurya's claim to be its creator. The words "Artha" and "Shastra," which both denote treatises, were combined to form the word "Arthashastra." The inspiration for the title came from Charvaka's teachings, which prioritise a materialistic view of human existence, and Hinduism, where Artha is seen as the primary objective of every human being to acquire social position and wealth. Sanskrit was used to compose the original text.
