Rassundari Devi wrote and published her autobiography, Amar Jiban, in 1876. One of the earliest autobiographies of two sections (1868 and 1897) of Rasundari Devi, Amar Jiban. As it was the first full-length autobiography written by a woman in Bengali, it was welcomed and received with fierce praise and admiration after its publication. The first part of her autobiography is of great importance as it is undesirable for Indian women to seek education that prevents them from establishing themselves as writers. She added the second part at the age of 88, which in 1897 was called Amar Jiban. The autobiography came into being after Rasasundari Devi became a widow at fifty-nine.
