james Mill wrote the book ‘A history of British India’. In 1817, his massive three-volume masterpiece was released. He divided British rule in India's past in this book. He separated Indian history into the Hindu, Muslim, and British eras. It was universally accepted to use this periodisation. However, james Mill's periodisation had a few flaws. One significant issue is that, since not all Mughal emperors were Muslims and not all ancient kings were Hindus, it is impossible to categorise an epoch according to the monarch's religion.
