Detailed Solution

British government appoint Gomasthas to supervise weavers, collect supplies and examine the quality of cloth.
The English Malay Archipelago Company appointed Gomasthas to eliminate the existence of traders and brokers and establish direct control over the weavers. They were appointed to supervise weavers, collect supplies, and examine the material standard. Corporate provided advances and placed the order. Weavers who took loans and costs beforehand were obligated to the company. They could not negotiate with others and administer their production to the Gomasthas. The East Indies Company of textiles established paid labour servants accountable for supervising weavers, managing the stores, and analysing the fabric standard. They were called "gomasthas."
