Detailed Solution

It stood for the despotic power of the king, so everyone hated Bastille.
The Bastille symbolised the king's tyrannical rule and was a source of tremendous hate. On July 14, 1789, the Bastille Prison was besieged. It was assaulted because its gunpowder and armaments were sought. The prison's commander was assassinated, and the seven inmates were all liberated. People destroyed the fortress. The city of Paris was entirely on guard on July 14, 1789. The king had issued orders for troops to enter the city. Rumours circulated that he was about to order the troops to fire on the civilians. Seven thousand men and women assembled before the town hall and marched towards the Bastille, a fortress.
