Detailed Solution

Gandhi joined with the Khilafat issue and the Non-Corporation movement to unite the Hindus and Muslims and to accomplish Swaraj.
The Ali brothers, Mohammad Ali and Shaukat Ali, launched the Khilafat movement in 1920 to restore the position of Khalifa. The Caliph or Khalifa Sultan of Turkey is the religious head. During the Second World War, the British threatened Turkey by weakening Khalifa's position. As a result, the Indian Muslims adopted an aggressive anti-British attitude. This movement was supported by Gandhiji and INC, which resulted in Hindu-Muslim unity. Thus Gandhiji started a Non-cooperation movement to attain Swaraj, its ultimatum aim. Thus, Indians started a boycott of everything: positions, organisations, titles, and offices.
