Detailed Solution

General Dyer opened fire at a peaceful meeting held at Jallianwala Bagh on April 13, 1919, as General Dyer sought to enforce the strict military rule in Amritsar. On April 13, 1919, the day of Vaisakhi, thousands of people gathered to protest against the Rowlatt Law at Jallianwala Bagh near the Golden Temple in Amritsar. The British did not like this, and one of the British officials, General Michael O'Dyer, began firing indiscriminately at all those gathered. More than a thousand people, including children, died in the crash, which is known as the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre.
