Detailed Solution

Mahatma Gandhi supported the Khilafat movement to unite Hindus and Muslims and protest against the British empire. The Muslims led the Khilafat movement to extend their help to the Khalifa after the Ottoman Empire fell in 1919. Gandhi saw this movement as an opportunity to unite Hindus and Muslims, and he was successful in starting a Non-Cooperation movement in support of swaraj and Khilafat.
