'Gulamgiri' was penned by Jyotirao Phule in 1873. The book's title translates to "slavery." American Civil War battles took place between 1861 and 1865. The long-running conflict over the enslavement of black people is essentially what sparked the start of the Civil War. American slavery and racial prejudice have ended thanks to the Civil Rights Movement. Phule drew a parallel between the treatment of the "lower" castes in India and the treatment of enslaved Black people in America by dedicating his book to all Americans who had struggled for the freedom of enslaved people. Phule defended against all types of inequality in addition to his critique of the caste system. He was distressed by the misery of upper caste women, labourers' suffering, and the lower castes' dehumanisation.
