Detailed Solution

Sepoy mutiny became a popular rebellion because people from different regions joined the rebellion, and several regiments joined the mutiny.
The Sepoy Mutiny of 1857 quickly expanded into a national uprising. Several regiments mutinied to join other forces at nodal locations like Delhi, Kanpur, and Lucknow as soon as the uprising got going. Additionally, the locals in towns and villages rose in revolt against the local chiefs and zamindars. A sepoy rebellion transformed into a popular uprising in this fashion. The introduction of new rifle cartridges, which were said to be greased with grease made of cow and pig fat, was the primary contributor to the Sepoy Mutiny. Considering that the fresh cartridge had to be bitten before being put into the gun.
