1)      Bolivia was a poor country. In Bolivia, the government was forced to give up control over its municipal water supply, and later a multinational company acquired the water supply rights of a city named Cochabamba.
2)      When the company laid its hands on the water supply, it increased the price to an all-time high, i.e., four times the previous price. It became difficult for people to bear the cost. This action of the company led to a spontaneous mass protest against the privatisation of water.
3)      The organisation FEDECOR led the protest.
