The revolt against Rowlatt Act started because It gave enormous power to the government to repress political activities, and This act allowed the government the retention of political prisoners without trial. The revolt against the Rowlatt act was started in 1919 and was also known as the Rowlatt Satyagraha. This movement was started because it allowed the colonial government enormous power to the government to repress any political activities that the leaders of the Indian National Congress started. Moreover, this act allowed the government to retain political prisoners for two years without trial, leading to widespread resentment against the colonial power. In protest against this act, Gandhi launched a civil disobedience movement. Many rallies were organised, and people from various sectors went on strike. A peaceful gathering was also held at the Jallianwala Bagh, with thousands of people participating in the protest against this act.
