Detailed Solution

The weavers suffered from a problem with raw cotton due to the increase in the export of raw cotton.
Weavers in India faced many problems by the late nineteenth century. The cotton import from England was more than 50 per cent of the value of the import from India. It led to a collapse in the Indian export market. The local market was full of goods imported from Britain. These imported cotton goods were so cheap compared to the goods of India that Indian weavers could not compete with them. Britain's goods were more affordable because they used machinery, whereas, in India, weavers did the job.
