Detailed Solution

We see our reflection in a mirror because a mirror has a smooth and polished surface that reflects light regularly. When light rays fall on a mirror, they bounce back in a predictable manner following the law of reflection, which states that the angle of incidence equals the angle of reflection. This regular reflection allows us to see a clear image of ourselves. On the other hand, a wall has a rough and uneven surface. When light falls on it, the rays scatter in different directions in a process called diffuse reflection. Due to this scattering, light does not return to our eyes in an organized way, so no proper image is formed. That is why we cannot see our reflection on a wall. However, we can still see the wall itself because the scattered light enters our eyes, but it does not form an organized image like in a mirror.
