A rainbow has a circular shape because the raindrops are spherical.
Round raindrops: A rainbow is formed when sunlight is cut off by raindrops in the atmosphere when the sun's rays fall into the water droplets into the water droplet and the rays are reflected back to the droplet as the sun's rays emanate from the water droplet.
